Introduction

Spruce beetles play an important role in Alaska’s forests. These native pests occur throughout the range of spruce in Alaska and are always present in the environment, but populations can outbreak under the right conditions and they can become devastating agents of change, causing mortality across large areas of spruce forests. This module teaches you about spruce beetles, what they do, and management strategies to control them.
